Sometimes, it can be difficult to handle your toddler’s tantrums. Use these tips to deal with your little one’s emotional outbursts.
1. Give plenty of positive attention
Reward your little one with praise and attention for positive behavior.
2. Wait out the tantrum
Don’t try to talk things out immediately and give it time. Soon, they will be calm enough to talk to you normally.
3. Stay calm
Make sure you stay calm yourself until the tantrum blows over.
4. Don’t ignore or punish
Ignoring your toddler’s tantrums don’t help, nor does punishing them with time-outs.
5. Don’t give in
Giving in every time will make them believe that their tantrums will help them achieve everything.
6. Talk in soothing tones
If your child throws a tantrum in a place that you just can’t leave, talk to them in a soft and soothing tone.
These tips should help you remain calm & give the support your child needs to regain control.
